Download, install, and configure SuperIsland on your Mac in under two minutes.
Getting Started
Download
Download the latest .dmg from GitHub Releases.
- Open the
.dmg - Drag SuperIsland.app to
/Applications - Eject the disk image
First launch
Double-click SuperIsland in your Applications folder. macOS may show a security warning on first launch — click Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
SuperIsland will immediately show the onboarding window:
Permissions
SuperIsland requests these permissions at first launch:
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Accessibility | Detect and respond to system HUD events (volume, brightness) |
| Notifications | Mirror app notifications to the island |
| Calendars | Read upcoming events for the Calendar module |
| Location (optional) | Auto-detect location for Weather module |
All permissions can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Configuration
Access settings by right-clicking the SuperIsland icon in the menu bar, or pressing the keyboard shortcut ⌘ , while the island is focused.
General settings
Launch at login ✓ Enabled (recommended)

Animation speed NormalEnabling/disabling modules
Go to Settings → Modules to toggle each built-in module independently:
- Now Playing — Shows media info from any app using MediaRemote
- Battery — Shows charge level and time remaining
- Calendar — Shows upcoming events from your calendars
- Weather — Shows local conditions (needs location or manual city)
- Notifications — Mirrors selected apps' notifications
- Connectivity — Bluetooth + Wi-Fi status
- Volume & Brightness HUD — Replaces the default macOS overlay
- Focus Mode — Shows active Focus name
Setting up extensions
Extensions live in:
~/Library/Application Support/DynamicIsland/Extensions/Drop any extension folder there and it will appear in Settings → Extensions. Enable it with the toggle.

Update
SuperIsland checks for updates automatically. You can also manually check via the menu bar icon → Check for Updates.
Uninstall
- Quit SuperIsland
- Move
/Applications/SuperIsland.appto Trash - Optionally remove preferences:
~/Library/Application Support/DynamicIsland/
